...SIGNIFICANT SNOWSTORM LATE SUNDAY THROUGH MONDAY...
* WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 8 and
16 inches.
* WHERE...Portions of south central, southwest, and western Maine.
* WHEN...Until 1 AM EST Tuesday.
* IMPACTS...Significant snowfall with the potential for a foot plus
of snow will bring a period of impacts. Moderate snow with periods
of heavy snow will create hazardous travel conditions across the
region. The potential exists for snowbands that will bring periods
of locally heavy snowfall, which will lead to rapid snow
accumulations and extremely dangerous travel conditions.
Significant snowfall and periods of heavy snowfall rates will
combine with low visibility to create very dangerous driving
conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday
morning and evening commutes.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snowfall rates of 2 to 3 inches per hour are
possible this evening and overnight into early Monday.
