Coastal Flood Warning issued September 27 at 6:02AM EDT until September 27 at 6:00PM EDT by NWS Upton NY
* WHAT...Up to three feet of inundation above ground level in
vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline.
* WHERE...Bronx, Northwest Suffolk, Northern Queens and Northern
Nassau Counties.
* WHEN...Until 6 PM EDT this evening.
* COASTAL IMPACTS...Locally moderate flooding is expected in the
most vulnerable locations near the waterfront and shoreline.
Some roads and low lying property including parking lots,
parks, lawns and homes/businesses with basements near the
waterfront will experience shallow flooding.
* SHOREFRONT AND BEACH IMPACTS...Breaking waves of 2 to 5 feet,
along with elevated water levels, will result in areas of dune
erosion with damage to a few waterfront structures. Splashover
over seawalls and overwashes where dune structures are
compromised may locally exacerbate flooding of roadways and
vulnerable structures behind protective dunes.
Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property. If
travel is required, do not drive around barricades or through
water of unknown depth.
