* WHAT...For the Coastal Flood Statement, up to one foot of
inundation above ground level expected in vulnerable areas near
the waterfront and shoreline. For the Coastal Flood Watch,
around two feet of inundation above ground level possible in
vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline.
* WHERE...Richmond (Staten Island) County.
* WHEN...For the Coastal Flood Statement, through Friday
morning. For the Coastal Flood Watch, from Friday afternoon
through Saturday morning.
* IMPACTS...Through early Friday, minor flooding in the more
vulnerable locations near the waterfront and shoreline. Some
roads and low lying properties including parking lots, parks,
lawns, and homes and businesses with basements near the
waterfront will experience minor flooding. Late Friday
afternoon into early Saturday, widespread flooding of vulnerable
areas near the waterfront and shoreline, including roads,
parking lots, parks, lawns, and homes and businesses with
basements near the waterfront. Numerous road closures are
likely, and vehicles parked in vulnerable areas near the
waterfront will likely become flooded. Flooding will also extend
inland from the waterfront along tidal rivers and bays.
If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be
closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of
unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone
property.
