Air Quality Alert issued July 17 at 9:00AM EDT by NWS Pittsburgh PA
The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has
issued a code PURPLE air quality alert for Friday, for the greater
Pittsburgh region, including Allegheny, Butler, Beaver, Armstrong,
Washington, Westmoreland and Fayette counties.
A code PURPLE air quality alert means that air pollution
concentrations within the local region are very unhealthy for the
general population. The effects of air pollution can be minimized
by avoiding outdoor exercise or strenuous activity.
