* WHAT...For Tuesdays Extreme Heat Warning, dangerously hot
conditions with heat index values up to 116. For todays Extreme
Heat Warning, dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up
to 114 expected.
* WHERE...Portions of Big Bend and Panhandle Florida.
* WHEN...For the first Extreme Heat Warning, until 8 PM EDT /7 PM
CDT/ this evening. For the second Extreme Heat Warning, from 11 AM
EDT /10 AM CDT/ to 8 PM EDT /7 PM CDT/ Tuesday.
* IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during
extreme heat and high humidity events.
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in
shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat
should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an
emergency! Call 9 1 1.
