* WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values in the
upper 90s to lower 100s through this afternoon.
* WHERE...Northern Litchfield County in northwestern Connecticut,
the southern Berkshires of western Massachusetts, southern
Herkimer, southern Fulton, Montgomery, Schoharie, Albany,
Schenectady, Saratoga, southeast Warren, Washington, Rensselaer,
Eastern Columbia and Western Ulster Counties in eastern New York
and Bennington and eastern Windham Counties in southern Vermont.
* WHEN...Until 8 PM EDT this evening.
* IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during
extreme heat and high humidity events.
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car
interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.

the heat.
