Wind Advisory issued September 15 at 4:55AM AKDT until September 16 at 12:00PM AKDT by NWS Anchorage AK
* WHAT...South to southeast winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts of up to 40
to 50 mph expected.
* WHERE...Anchorage.
* WHEN...Until noon AKDT Wednesday.
* IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects and a few
power outages may result. Trees are still mostly green and fully
leafed, causing them to be more vulnerable to damage from the
strong winds.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A strong fall storm system moving into the
western coast of Alaska will produce a prolonged period of strong
and gusty winds across the Anchorage area. Winds will initially
develop out of the southeast on Tuesday morning as strong winds
along the Turnagain Arm bend into town. The strongest winds will be
focused on the south and west side of town until winds turn out of
the south and spread into the rest of the Anchorage Bowl by Tuesday
evening. Gusty southerly winds will continue through late Wednesday
morning before slowly diminishing Wednesday afternoon.
Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high
profile vehicles. Use extra caution.
Secure loose outdoor objects.
