...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER TODAY...
.Near record temperatures today, combined with another period of
gusty westerly winds in and near the Front Range foothills will
lead to critical fire weather conditions, especially from the
Boulder county foothills south into South Park and the Palmer
Divide.
The National Weather Service in Denver has issued a Red Flag
Warning for wind and low relative humidity, which is in effect
from 8 AM this morning to 5 PM MST this afternoon. The Fire
Weather Watch is no longer in effect.
* AFFECTED AREA...Fire Weather Zones 239 and 241.
* TIMING...From 8 AM this morning to 5 PM MST this afternoon.
* WINDS...West 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 9 percent.
* IMPACTS...Conditions will be favorable for rapid fire spread.
Avoid outdoor burning and any activity that may produce a
spark and start a wildfire.
A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now....or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds...low relative humidity...and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.
