...BLIZZARD CONDITIONS DEVELOPING AND PERSISTING TONIGHT...
.A significant winter storm will move across the area through
tonight. Widespread snow will fall across Iowa with higher amounts
of 6+ inches possible north and east. Winds will gust 55 to 65+ mph,
resulting in significant drifting of snow and visibility reductions
to white-out conditions at times. Travel will become very dangerous,
if not impossible at times across parts of northern and eastern Iowa.
* WHAT...Blizzard conditions. Additional snow accumulations between
1 and 3 inches. Winds gusting to 55 to 65 mph.
* WHERE...Portions of central, north central, northeast, northwest,
and west central Iowa.
* WHEN...Until 7 AM CDT Monday.
* IMPACTS...Visibilities may drop below 1/4 mile due to falling and
blowing snow. Plan on slippery road conditions. Widespread blowing
snow will significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous
conditions could impact the Monday morning commute. Strong winds
may cause tree damage.
Travel should be restricted to emergencies only. If you must travel,
have a winter survival kit with you. If you get stranded, stay with
your vehicle.
