TRACK AND INTENSITY OUTLOOK
QUEENIE will continue moving northwestward in the next 12 hours. By tomorrow morning, the tropical cyclone is forecast to decelerate as it turns from north northwestward to north northeastward. On the forecast track, the center of QUEENIE will exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) between Sunday (27 September) afternoon and evening. Outside the PAR, it will accelerate northeastward towards the sea east of mainland Japan.
This tropical cyclone will likely intensify into a typhoon tomorrow and will strengthen further while moving over the sea east of Ryukyu Islands. After reaching peak intensity, QUEENIE will begin to weaken by Monday (28 September).
