TROPICAL STORM SURIGAE HAS ENTERED THE PHILIPPINE AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY AND WAS GIVEN THE LOCAL NAME “QUEENIE”
Location of eye/center : The center of Tropical Storm QUEENIE was estimated based on all available data at at 1,310 km East of Northern Luzon (17.8, 134.1).
Strength : Maximum winds of 75 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph.

The periphery and trough of QUEENIE will bring strong to gale-force gusts over the following areas (especially in coastal and upland areas exposed to winds):
Today (24 September): Batanes, Babuyan Islands, and Ilocos Norte.
Tomorrow (25 September) until Saturday (26 September): Davao Oriental, Davao Occidental, and Sarangani.

TRACK AND INTENSITY OUTLOOK
It must be emphasized that heavy rainfall and severe winds may still be experienced in localities outside the landfall point and the forecast confidence cone. Tropical Storm QUEENIE will generally move west northwestward until Friday (25 September) before turning north northeastward by Monday (28 September) and will exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Tuesday (29 September) morning.
This tropical cyclone will gradually intensify while inside the PAR. It may reach typhoon category by Sunday (27 September).
