PILANDOK MAINTAINS ITS STRENGTH AS IT MOVES NORTHWESTWARD.
Location of eye/center : The center of Tropical Storm PILANDOK was estimated based on all available data at at 1,015 km East of Extreme Northern Luzon (22.2, 131.5).
Strength : Maximum winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph.

Heavy Rainfall Outlook

Severe Winds
The Southwest Monsoon will bring strong to gale-force gusts over the following areas (especially in coastal and upland areas exposed to winds):
Today until Thursday (03 September): Most of Luzon and Visayas, Zamboanga del Norte, Misamis Occidental, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Oriental, Camiguin, Dinagat Islands, Davao Occidental, and Davao Oriental.
HAZARDS AFFECTING COASTAL WATERS
A Gale Warning is in effect over the northern and western seaboards of Northern Luzon. For more details, refer to Gale Warning No. 2 issued at 5:00 PM today.
24-Hour Sea Condition Outlook
Up to very rough seas over the following coastal waters:
Up to 5.0 m: The western seaboards of Batanes and Babuyan Islands; the seaboard of Ilocos Norte.
Up to 4.5 m: The seaboards of Ilocos Sur and northern La Union; the western seaboard of Pangasinan; the northern seaboard of Babuyan Islands; the remaining seaboard of Batanes.
Sea travel is risky for all types or tonnage of vessels. All mariners must remain in port or, if underway, seek shelter or safe harbor as soon as possible until winds and waves subside.
Up to rough seas over the following coastal waters:
Up to 4.0 m: The seaboard of Zambales.
Up to 3.5 m: The seaboard of Lubang Islands; the western and southern seaboards of Bataan; the western seaboards of Cavite and Batangas.
Up to 3.0 m: The remaining seaboard of Babuyan Islands; the western seaboards of northern Occidental Mindoro, Calamian Islands, and northern Palawan; the northern and western seaboard of Kalayaan Islands.
Mariners of small seacrafts, including all types of motorbancas, are advised not to venture out to sea under
these conditions, especially if inexperienced or operating ill-equipped vessels.
Up to moderate seas over the following coastal waters:
Up to 2.5 m: The seaboard of Isabela; western seaboard of central Palawan; the eastern seaboard of Davao Oriental; the remaining seaboards of Kalayaan Islands, Pangasinan, and La Union; the northern seaboard of Calamian Islands; the remaining western seaboard of Occidental Mindoro.
Up to 2.0 m: The seaboards of mainland Cagayan, northern Aurora, Romblon, Cuyo Islands, Antique, Surigao del Sur, and Davao Occidental; the western seaboard of Burias Island; the southern seaboards of Quezon, Marinduque, Oriental Mindoro, Iloilo, and Guimaras; the southwestern seaboard of Negros Occidental; the remaining western seaboard of mainland Palawan; the remaining seaboards of Occidental Mindoro and Davao Oriental.
Mariners of motorbancas and similarly sized vessels are advised to take precautionary measures while venturing out to sea and, if possible, avoid navigation under these conditions.
Other coastal waters have forecast wave heights of less than 2.0 m.
TRACK AND INTENSITY OUTLOOK
It must be emphasized that heavy rainfall and severe winds may still be experienced in localities outside the landfall point and the forecast confidence cone. Refer to “Other Hazards affecting Land Areas” for more details. Furthermore, the track may still shift within the limit of the forecast confidence cone.
PILANDOK is forecast to temporarily turn eastward then northward over the next 24 hours. Afterwards, it will move generally northwestward for the remainder of the forecast period. It is forecast to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Thursday (03 September) early morning. This tropical cyclone is less likely to make landfall over the country and will remain far from the Philippine landmass.
PILANDOK is forecast to remain as a tropical storm as it moves towards southern Japan.
