PILANDOK MAINTAINS ITS STRENGTH AS IT MOVES NORTHWESTWARD OVER THE PHILIPPINE SEA EAST OF EXTREME NORTHERN LUZON.
Location of eye/center : The center of Tropical Depression PILANDOK was estimated based on all available data at at 1,060 km East of Extreme Northern Luzon (22.0, 132.0).
Strength : Maximum winds of 55 kph near the centerand gustiness of up to 70 kph.

Severe Winds
The Southwest Monsoon will bring strong to gale-force gusts over the following areas (especially in coastal and upland areas exposed to winds):
Today (31 August): Most of the country.
Tomorrow (01 September) until Wednesday (02 September): Most of Luzon and Visayas, Zamboanga del Norte, Misamis Occidental, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Oriental, Camiguin, Dinagat Islands, Davao Occidental, and Davao Oriental.

Up to very rough seas over the following coastal waters:
Up to 4.5 m: The western seaboards of Babuyan Islands and Ilocos Norte.
Sea travel is risky for all types or tonnage of vessels. All mariners must remain in port or, if underway, seek shelter or safe harbor as soon as possible until winds and waves subside.
Up to rough seas over the following coastal waters:
Up to 4.0 m: The seaboards of Batanes and Ilocos Sur; the northern seaboard of Babuyan Islands; the western seaboard of Pangasinan.
Up to 3.5 m: The seaboards of northern La Union and Zambales; the western seaboards of Bataan; the northern seaboard of Pangasinan; the northern and western seaboards of Lubang Islands.
Up to 3.0 m: The western seaboards of Cavite, Batangas, northern Occidental Mindoro, and Calamian Islands; the southern seaboard of Bataan; the northern and western seaboards of Kalayaan Islands.
Mariners of small seacrafts, including all types of motorbancas, are advised not to venture out to sea under
these conditions, especially if inexperienced or operating ill-equipped vessels.
Up to moderate seas over the following coastal waters:
Up to 2.5 m: The western seaboard of northern Palawan; the eastern seaboard of Davao Oriental; the remaining seaboards of Babuyan Islands and Kalayaan Islands; the remaining western seaboard of Occidental Mindoro.
Up to 2.0 m: The seaboards of Isabela, northern Aurora, Romblon, Cuyo Islands, Antique, Surigao del Sur, and Davao Occidental; the western seaboard of Burias Island; the southern seaboards of Marinduque and Quezon; the remaining western seaboard of mainland Palawan; the remaining seaboards of Davao Oriental, La Union, and Pangasinan; the northern seaboard of Occidental Mindoro.
Mariners of motorbancas and similarly sized vessels are advised to take precautionary measures while venturing out to sea and, if possible, avoid navigation under these conditions.
Other coastal waters have forecast wave heights of less than 2.0 m.
TRACK AND INTENSITY OUTLOOK
It must be emphasized that heavy rainfall and severe winds may still be experienced in localities outside the landfall point and the forecast confidence cone. Refer to “Other Hazards affecting Land Areas” for more details. Furthermore, the track may still shift within the limit of the forecast confidence cone.
PILANDOK may become almost stationary over the Philippine Sea east of Extreme Northern Luzon for the next 24 hours before moving generally north northwestward for the remainder of the forecast period. It is forecast to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Wednesday (02 September) evening or Thursday (03 September) morning. This tropical cyclone is less likely to make landfall over the country and will remain far from the Philippine landmass. The forecast track is highly uncertain and may change in the succeeding bulletins.
PILANDOK is forecast to intensify into a tropical storm by tomorrow (01 September) and may remain as a tropical storm as it moves towards southern Japan.
