Winter Storm Warning issued January 21 at 1:45AM EST until January 23 at 7:00PM EST by NWS Buffalo NY
* WHAT...Heavy snow. Additional snow accumulations 2 to 4 inches
through daybreak today within the most persistent lake snows
across central and northern Jefferson County and far northern
Lewis County. Additional, more general accumulations of 3 to 8
inches are expected today and tonight, with lake effect snow then
expected to accumulate another 16 to 22 inches Thursday through
Friday. Winds gusting as highs as 35 mph creating blowing and
drifting snow and at times white out conditions.
* WHERE...The Eastern Lake Ontario Region. The greatest snow
accumulations will be across southern Jefferson County, far
northern Oswego County, and Lewis County.
* WHEN...Until 7 PM EST Friday.
* IMPACTS...Travel will be very difficult within the heaviest lake
effect snowbands. The hazardous conditions will impact the morning
and evening commutes.
Heavy lake effect snow will create dangerous travel conditions.
Periods of snow will result in snow covered roads and limited
visibilities. Slow down and use caution while driving.
