* WHAT...Very cold wind chills as low as 9 below expected.
* WHERE...The South Plains, Rolling Plains, and the far southern
Texas Panhandle.
* WHEN...From 9 PM CST this evening to 9 AM CST Tuesday.
* IMPACTS...The cold wind chills as low as 9 below zero could result
in hypothermia if precautions are not taken. Frostbite can occur
in as little as 30 minutes if unprotected skin is exposed to these
temperatures. The extended period of freezing temperatures could
also cause ruptured water pipes
Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a
hat, and gloves.
Keep pets indoors as much as possible.
Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure
portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills
inside.
