Coastal Flood Warning issued September 26 at 5:14AM EDT until September 27 at 6:00PM EDT by NWS Upton NY
* WHAT...One to two feet and locally up to 2 1/2 feet of
inundation above ground level in vulnerable areas near the
waterfront and shoreline.
* WHERE...Bronx, Northwest Suffolk, Northern Queens and Northern
Nassau Counties.
* WHEN...Until 6 PM EDT Sunday.
* COASTAL IMPACTS...Widespread flooding of vulnerable areas near
the waterfront and shoreline, including roads, parking lots,
parks, lawns, and homes and businesses with basements near the
waterfront. Numerous road closures are likely, and vehicles
parked in vulnerable areas near the waterfront will likely
become flooded. Flooding will also extend inland from the
waterfront along tidal rivers and bays.
* SHOREFRONT AND BEACH IMPACTS...Breaking waves of 3 to 6 feet,
along with elevated water levels, will result in areas of dune
erosion with damage to a few waterfront structures possible.
Splashover over seawalls and overwashes where dune structures
are compromised may locally exacerbate flooding of roadways and
vulnerable structures behind protective dunes.
Take the necessary actions to protect flood prone property. If
travel is required, do not drive around barricades or through
water of unknown depth.
