QUEENIE INTENSIFIES INTO A TYPHOON WHILE MOVING SLOWLY NORTHWARD OVER THE SEA EAST OF TAIWAN.
Location of eye/center : The center of Typhoon QUEENIE was estimated based on all available data at at 605 km East Northeast of Itbayat, Batanes (23.4, 127.0).
Strength : Maximum winds of 120 kph near the centerand gustiness of up to 150 kph.

Up to moderate seas over the following coastal waters:
Up to 2.0 m: The seaboards of Isabela; the northern seaboard of Batanes.
Mariners of motorbancas and similarly sized vessels are advised to take precautionary measures while venturing out to sea and, if possible, avoid navigation under these conditions.
Other coastal waters have forecast wave heights of less than 2.0 m.
TRACK AND INTENSITY OUTLOOK
QUEENIE will continue moving slowly in the next 12 hours as it turs north northeastward. On the forecast track, the center of QUEENIE will exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) between tomorrow afternoon and evening. Outside the PAR, it will accelerate northeastward towards the sea south of mainland Japan.
This tropical cyclone will intensify further while moving over the sea south of Okinawa Islands. After reaching its peak intensity, QUEENIE will begin to weaken by Monday (28 September).
