* WHAT...Very cold wind chills as low as 5 above zero to 5 below
zero expected at times over the Valley and Plateau as well as
Southwest North Carolina, while values as low as zero to 10 below
zero can be expected at times over Southwest Virginia.
* WHERE...Portions of southwest North Carolina, east Tennessee, and
southwest Virginia.
* WHEN...Until 1 PM EST /noon CST/ this afternoon.
* IMPACTS...The cold wind chills could result in hypothermia if
precautions are not taken.
Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a
hat, and gloves.
Keep pets indoors as much as possible.
Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure
portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills
inside.
