* WHAT...For the Dense Fog Advisory, patchy visibility one quarter
mile or less.
For the Extreme Cold Warning, dangerously cold wind chills as low
as 12 expected.
* WHERE...Portions of southeast Louisiana and southern Mississippi.
* WHEN...For the Dense Fog Advisory, until 8 AM CST Sunday. For the
Extreme Cold Warning, from 6 PM Sunday to noon CST Tuesday.
* IMPACTS...For the dense fog advisory, low visibility could make
driving conditions hazardous.
For the extreme cold warning, frostbite and hypothermia will occur
if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures. An extended
period of freezing temperatures could cause ruptured water pipes.
For the dense fog advisory, be prepared for sudden changes in
visibility along area roadways. Slow down, use your low beam
headlights, and leave plenty of distance ahead of you.
For the extreme cold warning, dress in layers including a hat, face
mask, and gloves if you must go outside.
To prevent water pipes from freezing; wrap or drain or allow them to
drip slowly.
Keep pets indoors as much as possible and make sure outdoor animals
have a warm, dry shelter, food, and unfrozen water.
Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure
portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills
inside.
Follow all appropriate safety precautions when heating your home
using a fireplace or portable heating devices.
