* WHAT...Heavy snow and considerable blowing and drifting snow
expected. Total snow accumulations between 3 and 6 inches. Winds
gusting as high as 50 mph.
* WHERE...Boone, Lee, Ogle, and Winnebago Counties.
* WHEN...From 7 PM this evening to 1 PM CDT Monday.
* IMPACTS...Visibilities may drop below 1/4 mile due to falling and
blowing snow, making for near blizzard conditions at times, which
will make travel treacherous and potentially life-threatening.
Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions will
impact the Monday morning commute. Gusty winds could also bring
down tree branches.
If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in
your vehicle in case of an emergency. The latest road conditions for
Illinois can be obtained at www.gettingaroundillinois.com.
Persons should consider delaying all travel. If travel is absolutely
necessary, drive with extreme caution. Consider taking a winter
storm kit along with you, including such items as tire chains,
booster cables, flashlight, shovel, blankets and extra clothing.
Also take water, a first aid kit, and anything else that would help
you survive in case you become stranded.
