    The presidential couple of Finland is expecting a baby.

    The Office of the President of the Republic announced today that president Sauli Niinistö's spouse Mrs Jenni Haukio is due to have her first child on February 2018.

    – This child has been hoped and wished for many years. And there has been a lot of setbacks along the years. The beginning of pregnancy was therefore sensitive time for us but now is the time to tell about it, president Niinistö and Mrs Haukio wrote.

    According to the Office this is a private family matter and it will not affect Niinistö's duties as the president.

    Sauli Niinistö, 69, ja Jenni Haukio, 40, were wed on January 3rd 2009. Niinistö has two children from his previous marriage.
